UNCP’s 24th ranked basketball team’s season comes to an end

The 24th ranked UNC Pembroke men’s basketball team’s season came to an end March, 11 as they fell to Limestone 100–85 in the first round of the Division II playoffs.

The Braves started off slow as they quickly found themselves down, but managed to fuel a run and take an early lead in the second half. However, they continued to be outplayed by Limestone.

The Braves were led by Nigel Grant’s 23-point effort, followed by senior Alex Bradley’s 19 points and freshman Akia Pruitt’s 12 points.

Limestone shot light outs all game as they finished shooting 61 percent, largely in part to their red-hot shooting in the second half, where they went 9-for-13.

Limestone’s largest lead of 14 came with just under eight minutes to go in the first half.

This loss marked the end of a 24–8 season for the Braves, including the 10-game winning streak they were riding into the playoffs. Their 24 wins were enough to give the Braves a share of the Peach Belt Conference regular season title.

This season marked the third 20-win season under their standing head coach Ben Miller.
